Diamond Clover 6 Project - Hazel
Recently, Catonsville High School Student and Howard County 4-H member Hazel completed her Diamond Clover 6 Project. The Diamond Clover program is an optional multi-year 4-H program that culminates in a service project. Hazel’s service project was focused on serving Senior Citizens in her area. First, she held a fundraiser that allowed her to purchase materials to make 80 adult bibs for a local non-profit Senior Home, two bibs for each resident. The Patapsco Valley 4-H Club, which Hazel is a member of, helped cut out all the bibs, which she then sewed over the next two and a half months. The completed bibs were delivered to the Senior Home this June. To make this project sustainable, Hazel also created the Senior Citizen Service Guidebook. This is a resource for 4-H Members and Leaders to help with planning service projects, both in person and socially distanced, for Senior Homes. She hopes that the guidebook will make planning these service projects easier for 4-H Clubs, increasing intergenerational activities among 4-H Members and the community. For any questions, or for a copy of the guidebook, please contact the Patapsco Valley 4-H club at: [email protected] For more information about 4-H visit: https://extension.umd.edu/get-involved/join-club
April Meeting: Photography Program
Member Luke K. organized a visit from professional photographer/videographer, Dave Cooper. We watched a slideshow displaying some of Dave Cooper's photos and bullets about techniques. He also taught us what ISO and options like contrast are for. Our club also got to view a video he made for a theater that was being reconstructed. At the end, Mr. Cooper answered questions about himself and other topics related to his career.
This presentation was a lot of fun and will definitely help us with our photos for the Howard County Fair! Visit his website at http://davecooperphoto.com/, or go straight to one of his videos:
